Multiple Mats Work Best

Here at MattingExperts.com we firmly believe that a system of mats in and around entrances is the very best solution.  The mistake most people make when outfitting their lobby or entryway with floor mats is using only one mat . I have seen busy retail stores with a single 3' x 5' rubber mat outside the door and nothing more. Guess what the inside of the store looked like? Like a hot mess, that's what.  And I know what they were thinking when they bought it: "I don't want to get sued if someone slips outside my business...so I will put this textured mat out here and that will solve it!"  Um...no.  The only thing doing that accomplishes is to non-verbally exclaim to all visitors that you really have better things to do than prepare a welcoming entrance.

We suggest you use a mat such as our Super Scrape outside the main entrance to keep customers from slipping as well as to perform an initial scrape of the shoes. If a more aggressive scrape along with space to contain dirt and small pebbles is desired then our Rubber Brush would be ideal.

Since neither of the above mats wipes or dries shoes, a carpet-like mat inside the door is needed. Best case scenario would be a combination wiping/scraping mat here.  Why just dry the shoes when you can get more scraping action at the same time?  A perfect example of this type of mat is our Waterhog Classic

Each of the raised squares are covered in shoe-wiping nylon and are also rigid enough to maintain their shape since they are molded from rubber.  The spaces in between raised nubs hold dirt particles in the mat until it can be vacuumed or swept. Brilliant!
